| Befuddled by Bode plots? EIS Short Course is the answer! |
 |
Once again, Gamry, in cooperation with Materials
Research Company LLC, is sponsoring a Short
Course on Electrochemical Impedance
Spectroscopy April 30-May 4, 2007 in Jackson
MS. A combination
of lab sessions and lectures by experts in
the field
cover both theory and practice.
Gamry's Dr. Rob Sides will be on hand to answer
questions and to familiarize you with Gamry's EIS
hardware and software.

| Did you get your guitar & go to Nashville early? |
 |
Well, maybe you left the guitar home, but
NACE's Corrosion 2007 was in Nashville
and they
sponsored the Third Annual Tutorial on
Electrochemical Techniques for Measuring
Corrosion.
It was held
on Sunday March 11, 2007. Our own Dr. Pete
Peterson
started things off with a talk on theory and
application of Polarization Resistance.
Other topics were Electrochemical Noise and
Impedance Spectroscopy. Attendance was open
to all
NACE attendees.
Be sure to ask Pete to play a few bars of his
hit Country & Western song about Potentiostats!

| Corrosion Short Course at Penn State |
 |
The annual Corrosion Short Course at Penn
State is almost as much of a Nittany
tradition as Joe Paterno.
Now in its Eleventh year, this Gamry
sponsored course continues to fill up
quickly, so reserve your spot early. The
faculty is drawn from Penn State and Ohio
State and the week long course gives you
plenty of experience in the classroom and in
the lab.
Make your plans for June 10-15 now!

| THE Method added to DC105 |
 |
We first talked about THE Method in this
newsletter in 2004. The technique has been
applied to the famous Alloy 22, a candidate
for nuclear waste containers. You can hear
about it at the upcoming ASTM
Symposium.
THE Method is now a standard part of the
DC105 Corrosion Software. If you have a
Reference 600, Series G, or PCI4 Potentiostat
you may download Version 5.21 from the Gamry
Website. There is no charge for this upgrade
for licensed Gamry Users.

If you want to keep up-to-date with the
happenings at Gamry and in the world of
Electrochemistry, but don't want to
clutter your email inbox, our RSS feed is for
you!
Portals such as Google and Yahoo let you put
Gamry's feed on your home page. Popular
browsers such as Firefox and IE7 let you view

New Techniques for the PHE200 |
|
|
|
Three new techniques have been added to the
PHE200 Physical Electrochemistry Software.
If you are in the sensor development
business, these may be the techniques for you!
The techniques are "Repeating
Chronoamperometry", "Repeating
Chonopotentiometry", and "Multiple Step
Potentiostatic." The first two techniques
allow you to repeatedly cycle the potential
(chronoamperometry) or current
(chronopotentiometry) between two values and
to record current and voltage throughout the
entire series of steps. With >240,000 data
point capability, you'll have plenty of data!
The third technique, "Multiple Step
Potentiostatic," allows you to build a
sequence of potential steps, each with it's
own potential and duration. Up to 48 steps
can be programmed! It's almost like an
Etch a Sketch® toy for electrochemists!
