Gamry Instruments’ PWR800 Electrochemical Energy Software is designed to test
advanced electrochemical devices. It partners with a Gamry Potentiostat to
automate electrochemical testing in energy research. The PWR800 includes both
simple, easy-to-use standard techniques and powerful sequencing tools for more
complicated tests.
Electrochemical cells used in energy technology include:
Batteries
Fuel
Cells
Supercapacitors
Solar
Cells
The PWR800
data acquisition is performed with the Gamry Framework Software. The data analysis is performed using the Gamry Echem
Analyst. Click here for
more details on these software platforms.
The PWR800 software is compatible with the Gamry Reference
600 and 3000 Potentiostats.
In most cases, the Reference 3000 Potentiostat with
3-amp current capability is the preferred Potentiostat for electrochemical
energy researchers. In addition
to high-current measurement and control, the Reference 3000 offers an Auxiliary
Electrometer Option. The Auxiliary Electrometer option is an array of
eight high-voltage differential voltage inputs. These inputs can be used to
measure voltages of cells in an ESC stack or measure reference electrodes within
one electrochemical cell. The Auxiliary Electrometer Option is a powerful
tool for the evaluation of battery stacks.
The PWR800
system, along with the Gamry Reference 600 or 3000,
can be pre-configured as a turnkey solution and integrated into a
notebook or desktop computer.
Standard Experiments
- Cyclic Charge-Discharge
- Cyclic Charge-Discharge tests are used to characterize
secondary batteries and supercapacitors.
- Discharge Curves - A Discharge Curve is
probably the most common test for fuel cells and primary
batteries.
- Charge Curves - The Charge Curve is used to
charge a device by applying a controlled current. A
voltage finish is available in Charge Curves.
- Cyclic Charge-Discharge with EIS -
Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy is a powerful technique
for characterizing the causes of capacity fade in
electrochemical devices. In this technique, EIS curves can
be run after charge, after discharge, or after both. An
EIS300 Software license is required.
- Cyclic Voltammetry - This classic
electrochemical technique is a standard tool for battery and
supercap developers. The redox properties of an
electrochemical system can be quickly evaluated with cyclic
voltammetry.
- Polarization Curves- Automated
measurement of a voltage vs. load curve for an electrochemical
device.
- Galvanostatic - The Galvanostatic
technique can be used to "manually" charge or discharge an
electrochemical device.
- Potentiostatic - The Potentiostatic
technique is used to control the voltage of an electrochemical
device.
Features
- Designed to be easy to use...for example, the user need not
enter current polarities.
- Discharge experiments can be performed in three modes:
constant current, constant load, or constant voltage.
- A unique form of instrumental control that insures that no
charge will be lost during the experiment due to instrument
overload.
- Autoranging real-time graphical
display for experiment monitoring.
- The Gamry Sequence Wizard
combines electrochemical techniques from Gamry's entire
repertoire of software into one experimental sequence.
- A broad range of limit tests to terminate the experiment if a
parameter is out-of-range.
- User modifiable
Explain scripts serve as
the basis for new experiments.
Systems Information
The
PWR800 Electrochemical Energy Software requires a
Gamry Reference 600 or 3000 Potentiostat to conduct experiments.
Gamry Instruments can supply complete
systems including Potentiostat and Software installed in a desktop
or notebook computer. Custom computer configurations, software,
training and installation are available by special order. Contact us for further details
on these systems.
