Why is the Reference 600 a stand-alone Potentiostat when Gamry is well-known for designing Potentiostats that install inside computers?

It's all about choice.  We're very happy with our Series G Potentiostat Family that installs in PCI slots in Windows computers.  They perform well, they're very reliable, and our users tell us that they are very pleased with them.

The USB Interface, however, has a lot going for it.  It's fast, it's very easy to use, and you don't have to open the cabinet of the computer.  When we decided that we needed a Potentiostat with top-of-the-line specifications, the USB was a natural choice for a computer interface.

So we designed the Reference 600 with a maximum EIS frequency of 1 MHz, a data acquisition time of 3.3 microseconds, a very sophisticated oversampling technique for current and voltage measurement...and a USB Interface.

We will continue to manufacture and support the Series G Potentiostats.  For virtually every electrochemical application, the Series Gs do a superb job.  But if you want a Potentiostat with specifications that meet or exceed the best on the market, or if you want a USB interface, there's the Reference 600.
