Dr. Rob Sides received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Florida.  Rob did his graduate research under the direction of Dr. Charles Martin. He focused on the characterization of lithium ion battery electrodes synthesized by a unique template-base method.  Rob demonstrated his productivity by publishing three research papers from his doctoral research, plus four review articles.  He also spent several months in Rome developing materials for the Italian labs using the template process.

Rob grew up in South Carolina and attended Clemson University for his B.S. Chemistry degree.  While at Clemson, he was hijacked into electrochemistry through the undergraduate research program in Dr. Stephen Creager's lab.

Since joining Gamry, Rob has quickly come up to speed by attending several ECS Meetings, the Gordon Conference on Electrochemistry, as well as the EIS Short Course in 2006 and 2007.  He's made visits to China, Korea, Japan, and Italy. Of course, Rob has immersed himself in the gory details of potentiostats, corrosion measurement, and EIS.   

Rob's wife, Alison, is also a Ph.D. Chemist from the University of Florida who is a Member of the Research Staff at Sarnoff Corporation in Princeton, NJ.  

Rob is a serious sports fan.  Test him at your peril!   And like a lot of small-town Southern folks, he's comfortable with people and enjoys their company. 

Rob will be attending EuroCorr 2007 in Germany.
